About the Role

Onyx Agency is on the hunt for a Junior Video Editor to join the team part-time (2 days a week) for a short-term contract from August through September. You’ll be working directly alongside our Creative Director and Editor (aka Dom), getting real experience across editing, production, and the inner workings of agency life.

This isn’t a sit-back-and-watch gig. We’re looking for someone who’s switched on, can follow direction and isn’t afraid to take initiative. If you're dependable, curious, and can keep up with a fast-moving environment, we’ll back you to grow here. And if the fit’s right, this role has a clear path to full-time.

Key Relationships

  • Managing Director

  • Creative Director

  • Marketing Director

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Junior Video Editor supports the post-production team, assists with corporate and branded edits, and contributes to the creative output of the agency. Your week-to-week will include:

  • Editing corporate and branded video content in Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Ingesting, organising and managing media (you’ll be expected to keep things tidy)

  • Supporting colour grade, audio clean-up, music selection, and final exports

  • Reviewing briefs, treatments, and call sheets so you understand the intent behind the edit

  • Occasionally jumping on set to support shoots and production needs

  • Assisting with internal content for Onyx Agency socials, promos, and BTS

  • Helping the events/activations side when needed (small tasks, etc.)

  • Staying on time, staying sharp, and stepping up when things move quickly

What You’ll Need

  • 1–2 years of editing experience (study, freelance or agency work all count)

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and confidence navigating timelines/workflows

  • Solid file management and organisational skills

  • A clean, professional presence, both in the edit suite and on set

  • Strong punctuality and time management

  • Accountability: you own your mistakes and your wins

  • Honesty, integrity, and a good attitude under pressure

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to think for yourself when needed

  • Willingness to come in for shoots or in-person meetings as needed

  • A genuine desire to build a long-term career at Onyx Agency, we’re looking for someone to grow with us.

  • A drivers license is required when getting to set or meetings

Bonus Points For

Not essential, but nice to have:

  • After Effects experience and the ability to execute basic motion graphics.

  • Graphic design skills across Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

  • Technical knowledge of camera formats, frame rates, aspect ratios, and export settings.

  • Cover letter to tell us who you are and what you like - Yes, we used AI to help write this job ad. But let’s be clear — AI is a tool for efficiency. We want the real you. You’ll be writing your own emails, solving real problems, and making creative calls on the fly. That’s how we grow, and it’s what our clients expect.

What You’ll Get

As much as we like to stay caffeinated (except Blake our MD, who prefers a hot chocolate) this isn’t a coffee-fetching internship. You’ll be given real opportunities, guidance, and trust, and if you’re the right person, we’ll help set up your foundation for a long-term career. As part of the Onyx Agency team, you’ll gain real-world experience, hands-on support, and exposure across every stage of production.

  • Direct mentorship from a seasoned director/editor (Dom)

  • The chance to be part of the production pipeline: from briefs to delivery

  • Projects that challenge your thinking and sharpen your skillset

  • An energetic, ambitious environment that values ideas, initiative, and humour

  • A growing network and strong foundation for your future career

The opportunity to become excellent at what you do, we’ll help hone your craft and turn you into a weapon!

We’re not looking for someone who just wants to tick boxes two days a week. We’re looking for someone who wants to build something, take ownership of their craft, and grow into a key part of the Onyx team.
