The ARTRAGE Production Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all live production and technical aspects across all ARTRAGE activations.
The position requires a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in sound, lighting and venue infrastructure, with a keen eye for detail and design.
The Production Manager will oversee and implement all ARTRAGE technical operations, providing expertise and support to all staff, artists, and suppliers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General
Manage all live production and technical requirements across all ARTRAGE activities.
Gain a thorough understanding of all ARTRAGE venues and maintain accurate venue documentation, ensuring feedback from technicians to increase efficiency during build, operations, and pack down.
Ensure the successful live production of all shows by producing venue plans, artist rehearsal schedules and overall technical schedules.
Develop a close working relationship with the Programming department and liaise with visiting companies, promoters and producers on providing relevant services and equipment.
Troubleshoot any venue technical issues and ensure prompt resolution to minimise performance disruption.
Work alongside the Operations Manager to ensure venues are compliant and make amendments or additions to venue plans as required.
Manage existing relationships with lighting, sound, and other technical equipment suppliers.
Development, Organisation & Planning
Develop and maintain project management and staffing software for each activity.
Develop, maintain and uphold departmental documents, training materials and knowledge bases to ensure the sharing of institutional knowledge among team members.
Manage the creation and delivery of all-staff event briefing documents, operational checklists, reportage and communication systems alongside other department managers.
Create, maintain and implement all manuals and departmental handbooks.
Liaise with all departments and external contractors or suppliers ensuring schedules and processes meet cross-departmental needs.
Collaborate with the IT & Systems department to oversee essential systems including exploring innovative advancements to streamline processes.
Ensure accurate inventories across all departmental equipment.
Maintain accurate staff and supplier contact lists.
Manage post-event debriefs and prepare comprehensive reports.
Leadership & Delivery
Have a sound understanding of the Live Performance Award and lead on sourcing, vetting, recruiting, contracting, training and inducting staff.
Provide line management, operational support, guidance, and supervision to coordinators and onsite delivery teams.
Manage the performance of direct reports, resolve performance issues, provide mentorship to facilitate development, and identify skills gaps or capacity requirements.
Assist onsite staff when required ensuring that incident reports, maintenance logs, site reports and schedule updates are completed and actioned during all event operations.
Where necessary assist with onsite physical activities.
Foster the development of positive and communicative working relationships across all delivery areas working on ARTRAGE events.

OH&S, Compliance & Governance
Ensure the review, development and ongoing improvement of health and safety requirements for ARTRAGE staff and contractors, including inductions, onboarding and offboarding.
Ensure working practices adhere to ARTRAGE Health & Safety Policies and Procedures and with broader Health & Safety regulations. Operational delivery must be always safe and conform to the applicable legislative and licensing requirements.
Seek and devise methods to minimise the environmental impact of the festival and improve overall sustainability and accessibility.
Notify the Head of Production and Operations of any Health or Safety issues that arise and assist in ensuring that responsive remedial works are carried out.
Produce and maintain all other health, safety and risk documentation relevant to the department.
Financial Management
Oversee the creation, management, and controls departmental budgets, payment schedules and cashflow projections.
Negotiate contracts, review service agreements, and manage vendor or supplier performance to achieve cost effective and high-quality outcomes.
Keep the Head of Production and Operations informed of any changes to budget, providing costings and seeking, where appropriate, authority for expenditure for large amounts.
Work alongside all Managers to guarantee efficient and cost-effective resource management.
Process invoices in a timely manner and produce an accurate financial report at the close of each project.
Other Duties
Undertake any other duties assigned by the ARTRAGE Executive Leadership Team, which might reasonably be deemed to be within the scope of the role and having regard for the skills and qualifications relating to the role.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Proven experience in Live Production and Technical Management within the performing arts or events industry.
In-depth knowledge of technical production elements, including lighting, staging, sound, rigging and audio-visual equipment.
Proficiency in relevant software and technical systems commonly used in the industry.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Understanding of health and safety requirements and the ability to ensure compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
WA Driver’s License (C Class minimum)
White Card (High Risk Work License)

LOCATION
This role will operate from the ARTRAGE HQ Office. This is also an active on-site role and will also be based across all relevant ARTRAGE event sites when required. Ensure availability for regular evening and weekend work during all activations or events.
