Bio

Jane Robertson is an established TV and Film Producer based in Wellington, New Zealand. Before joining forces with award winning Monsoon Pictures she was a long standing producer with indie prod-co Gibson Group one of New Zealand’s longest running production companies, she is also an in-demand independent producer. Before that Jane worked in the UK. She has co-production experience with China, Canada and the UK. Her numerous documentaries and television series have sold and screened worldwide.

Jane has presented feature documentary projects at AIDC, NZ’s Doc Edge Festival, IDFA and DOK Leipzig, Germany.

Beginning her career working on the feature length Janet Frame documentary WRESTLING WITH THE ANGEL and WW1 documentary, WOMEN AT WAR, in 2006 she developed and produced documentary series CORONER’S INQUEST. She became producer and director, then series producer on LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

In 2007 Jane moved to the UK where she developed factual series and programmes for BBC, Channel Four, ITV and Five. On returning to NZ, Jane produced, among other things, the ten-part observational documentary series PRISON FAMILIES for TV3 as well as creating and producing two series of observational documentary STREET HOSPITAL for TVNZ.

In 2014 Jane produced the documentary series, THE TROUBLE WITH MURDER as well as developing and producing the 2015 documentary series BULLIES, both for Prime. In 2017 Jane produced documentaries, ALL IN THE MIND and THE SECRET LIVES OF FUSSY EATERS for TVNZ. In 2018 and 2019 Jane created and produced Canadian-New Zealand children’s factual series BUGHUNTER and was a producer on mental health documentary series LIKE A MAN for TVNZ. As EP Jane is overseeing several children’s series for Gibson Group and TVNZ and is in development with two projects selected for the Ara ki Te Puna Kairangi – The Premium Development Fund.

Jane was on the board of SPADA for three years and is a long standing WIFT member.
