Bio
James is a freelance filmmaker from Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. He is well-versed in video and film production. Since he was ten years old, he has written and directed short films. He has also directed social media content, promotional sports videos, music videos and short documentaries.
He graduated with a Double Major in Screen Production, Film Media and Television from the University of Auckland. James has written more than ten short film scripts. He made these films with friends, his brothers and later, budding filmmakers for competitions such as the 48 Hour Film Challenge. James' wrote and directed the short film, “Street Games” in 2017. It won a handful of awards in international film festivals, including at Top Indie Awards and New York Film Awards.
Since then, he has directed two award-winning documentary shorts with Zine Film Collective, called “Mr India” and “Influencer”. “Influencer” will have its worldwide release in late February 2022. In three months, it has already picked up seven awards and been selected for 23 international film festivals.
James is a proud member of the Directors and Editors Guild of New Zealand.
