Bio

Harry Wynn is the 2023 New Filmmaker of the Year award recipient and has been accepted to be part of the acclaimed Script-to-Screen FilmUp mentorship programme. He is a New Zealand/Australian filmmaker based in Auckland, New Zealand. He is passionate about all things to do with documentaries and has worked with some of the country’s finest documentary directors and producers.

He is writing and directing his first documentary series, “We’ve Always Been Here”, a show which uses comedy to explore New Zealand’s queer history and pioneers. This series has full production funding and will be released on TVNZ during New Zealand’s Pride Month in February 2025. He also has development funding from Screen Australia for his first feature-length documentary film.

In December 2022, he directed the Loading Doc "Shred," a short documentary about a teenage bodybuilder who must take extreme measures to sculpt the perfect body to pursue his ultimate goal of winning his first bodybuilding competition. Also, in 2022, he produced the Attitude-RNZ series titled "What's the Disibili-tea," profiling several young queer people living with disabilities.

In 2021, his gripping second documentary project, "Young & Hooked on Chemsex," was released on New Zealand's most popular streaming platform, TVNZ+.

In 2020, he released "Three Ticks Chlöe" for The Spinoff, which is about the country's most influential millennial politician, Chlöe Swarbrick.

He has production managed multiple television shows for production companies such as Greenstone TV, Attitude, Stripe Studios and NIWA. Those shows have gone on to networks and platforms such as TVNZ, Bravo and RNZ.
