Āu Mahi | What You Will Do As a Studio Technician, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Digital Screen's specialised Sound, Editing, and Production studios. You will provide technical support to staff and students, oversee Production Asset Management and digital workflows, and liaise with industry professionals in film, game development, and music. Additionally, you will contribute to teaching digital screen arts, maintain equipment and facilities, provide training and mentorship, and coordinate with external vendors for support. As the Studio Technician in Sound, you will support the delivery of audio-related teaching and practice within Digital Screen by managing and maintaining sound-specific facilities and equipment. This includes production and post-production spaces, field recording kits, Foley stages, and audio software systems. You will work closely with academic staff to prepare and support sound-based sessions, assist students with practical work, and maintain a high standard of technical reliability across all audio workflows. Mōu | Who You Are To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in a related field, such as sound recording, film and television production, or post-production. You will bring a strong foundation of professional experience in sound recording, post-production, or studio environments. While previous work in an institutional or technician role is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates with high-level industry experience gained through freelance, contract, or independent project-based work.
