The Role

We are seeking a General Manager (GM) to lead our highly skilled operations team and drive client satisfaction through expert project management & creative thinking. 

As GM you’ll be responsible for the overall day-to-day and strategic leadership of Pinnacle Post’s Auckland post-production facility and for the broader performance of the company. The GM will ensure smooth, profitable operations, build strong relationships with local and international clients, manage a high-performing crew, and collaborate with company directors and the LA-based business-development team to set and execute growth plans.

The GM role is a new position which you will inherit from one of the company founders, who will maintain creative roles with the company after a suitable transition period. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as primary point of contact for producers, studios and streaming partners from pitch through delivery.

  • Take ownership of the client experience, ensuring consistency with Pinnacle Post values and market position as a premium service provider.

  • Run the Pinnacle Post facilities, oversee scheduling, resourcing, and delivery across the entire facility, including remote sites, ensuring on-time and high quality delivery.

  • Drive the continuous improvement of workflows, technology upgrades and data-security protocols in collaboration with Technical Operations management. 

  • Manage all vendor and commercial relationships; review and approve capital-expenditure proposals.

  • Ensure robust company policies and legal guidelines are up-to-date, communicated and followed at all times.

  • Communicate and maintain relationships with Directors, Shareholders and other business partners, and industry contacts.

  • Oversee general financial performance, investments and other business ventures.

 

Required Experience

Operational Abilities

  • Deep understanding of end-to-end post-production workflows and cloud/remote pipelines.

  • Proven P&L responsibility and track record of improving utilisation and profitability.

  • Experience structuring bids, MSAs and detailed SOWs for international and domestic clients; fluent in production rebates.

Leadership & People Management

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technical and creative teams, including freelancers.

  • Competence in recruitment, performance management, career progression pathways, and succession planning.

  • Skilled at fostering an inclusive, safe culture that supports diverse creative voices and encourages continuous learning.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excels at pitching creative solutions and translating technical detail into business value for studio post supervisors, producers and streaming partners.

  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills to balance client expectations, schedule pressures and profitability.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; adapts tone for creatives, technologists and executives.

  • Ability to motivate and lead a team with a high level of integrity and dependability.

General Industry Experience

  • 5+ years in senior operations or general management roles within film / TV post-production or closely related media services.

  • Track record of developing and implementing strategic business plans.

  • High level industry networking experience; studio executive level.

  • Film school training preferred.
