BioWorking in Film has been a dream of mine ever since I watched the first LOTR film at the age of 5 and finding out that it was made in NZ.
By chance, I was offered my first job in film as a locations PA on The Shannara Chronicles, in 2015 and I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere and challenges that the industry provided on a day-to-day basis. In the next few years I worked on feature films, international and kiwi TV dramas and even dabbled in the TVC world. Primarily working as a locations Assist working under some of the best players in business. The role afforded me the opportunity to really learn a lot about the Industry and the Art. After yearning to learn more about the film industry, I took three years of on-set experience with me when I enrolled in AUT's school of communications pursuing a Television and Screen production major, which I completed in 2020 excelling in Producing, Directing, Screen Writing and Cinematography with great commendation from my peers and lecturers alike. I am still currently wrapping up my degree taking papers when I can. However, due to the recent boom in the industry, the opportunity to step into both Locations scouting and management roles took priority. I believe there is no better expirence gained than on the ground.
Locations is such an important role in the nz industry and I love the places it takes me and the people I get to meet, both inside and outside of the industry. Locations is a role that is often overlooked, but in reality it provides Production based problem-solving mixed with Creative opportunities, like working alongside the director and DOP to help in building their world.
What I bring to the table above all else is a aspiration to spark a cultural shift in the perspective of what a locations scout and manager can offer. This, plus 6 years of on-set expirence allows me to go the extra mile in offering up valuable solutions, Loco knowledge and facilitating the whole crew with consideration. |
